What’s Up With The Chicken?

Many people have asked us, “What’s up with the rubber chicken?”. Welp, here’s the quick and dirty story! Some years ago we were camping at one of the campgrounds in Joshua Tree. During the trip, it turned out that we needed some extra supplies. So, a couple of us jumped in the truck and headed to town. On the way out of the store we noticed a seemingly random rubber squawking chicken toy for sale. It was symbolism at first sight! Could human language, cognition, and philosophizing just be a version of squawking? Without hesitation, it was purchased and brought to the campsite as the official camp mascot. And henceforth the tradition of Camp Philosophy “squawk your squawk!” was born. Thus, each morning the camper who gets up first has the duty of squawking the squawker, alerting everyone that coffee and squawking are soon to commence!
